The art of the expression.

Looking at the grid of face of politicians that stare out o media website one is clearly caught up in doubly complex game of drafts crossed with othello. The Politicians no doubt are playing at drafts with each other. there very facies appearing of counters. Each then attempt to take all the spaces of the grid of the screen, or at least prevent anyone else being there. Expressions are pulled and stories are run with, almost in that order. That is on needs always to ensure the right announcement goes with the right frozen expression; and that moreover on needs also to ensure that there is a suitably eclectic set of poses, to persuade the happless view one is not merely the stern leader, but a caring one, as well as the decent bloke. One can almost imagine the conversations in the corridors of spin : 'no that story last week, the other side did it!' or 'we need anohter story to match that caring look.."
However there is a second game being played, that of othello. It goes without saying it is the media who chooses what photos to put and where. But in these days of photoshop the game of othello, of subtly altering whether an image in positive of negative are clearly so much more complex. On the one hand it is no simple matter now were on cuts faces of. Is it just me or is Cameron often cut off around that shiny point of his forehead? On the other hand the act of having too many faces on one individual makes them look beautiful monochrome if the faces are the same) or beautifully two faces, are too radically different.
Beyond the fun and games though is a real point. it strokes me that we are really very naive about all these images, all the plethora of faces, and their silent appeals. Like no other time or place we caught in a prismatic gallery of reflected desires.a gallery whose overall effect is likely to be insidiously waring how we navigate highly complex issue , by inserting a high complex reaction to the story before
